Use plastic wood. Fill any screw holes. Fill nail holes if you used nails earlier. Fill cracks at the edges of the half-round molding. Smooth it out.
Lightly sand the top of the stand. Remove the penciled X. Sand all visible wood surfaces as necessary. You want a uniform texture before paint or stain.
Apply your finish. Paint or stain as desired. Let it cure.
Enjoy Your Creation
When the plant stand is dry, move your favorite flower or fern onto its new home. It’s sturdy. It’s square. It’s yours.
